Andrea Salas

Bienvenue au cours de mathematiques et statistics

Hello,

I teach math and statistics and I absolutely love my job!  If you're a student in my Algebra 1A class, you won't be learning just the 'hows'-- those boring math rules that most students learn out of context.  You'll learn the 'whys' of math.  For example, why do we calculate a mean and a median and how are they used?  Why do we 'flip the inequality sign' when multiplying or dividing by a negative number? Why do we need to know the Commutative and Associative properties and when will we ever use them?  You can probably think of many, many more of these questions, and I can assure you I'll answer all of them.  You'll leave my course at the end of the year loving math (or at the very least it will be much more demystified).

If you are a student in my Statistics class, you'll never look at the world through quite the same lens again. You'll question everything you read, hear, and see in the media and in any situation where someone is making a claim.  You'll become a critical (some may say skeptical) thinker, and armed with your newly acquired statistical tools you will be able to manipulate data to fit your cause whenever you need to convince someone of anything!  This is pretty much akin to having a superpower.

I hope everyone has fun this year. I definitely will....

A Bientot
